Breakfast Buns

  1. Activate the Yeast:
    • In a bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy.
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, salt, and egg. Add the activated yeast mixture and mix well.
    • Gradually add the flour, stirring continuously, until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough:
    • Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  1. First Rise:
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-1.5 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  2. Make the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.
  3. Form the Buns:
    • Punch down the risen dough and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface.
    • Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly.
  4. Roll and Cut:
    • Starting from one long side, roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into equal-sized buns.
  1. Second Rise:
    • Place the buns in a greased baking dish, leaving a little space between each. Cover and let them rise for another 30-45 minutes.
  2. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  3. Bake:
    • Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are golden brown.
  4. Make the Glaze:
    • While the buns are baking, mix together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
  1. Glaze the Buns:
    • Once the buns are out of the oven, drizzle the glaze over them while they are still warm.
  2. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Allow the buns to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade breakfast buns!

These breakfast buns are best served fresh, and they make for a delightful morning treat with a cup of coffee or tea.
