Masmen with cheese

Masmen is a type of pasta dish that is often made with ground meat, spices, and a tomato-based sauce. If you’d like to make a cheesy version of masmen, you can follow this recipe:

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (about 225g) of masmen pasta (or any pasta of your choice)
  • 1 pound (450g) ground beef or lamb
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or your choice)
  • Fresh parsley or cilantro for garnish (optional)
  • Olive oil for cooking

Instructions:

  1. Cook the masmen pasta according to the package instructions until it’s al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a bit of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until they become translucent.
  3. Add the ground beef or lamb to the skillet. Cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until it’s browned and cooked through.
  4. Drain any excess fat from the skillet if needed.
  5. Stir in the diced tomatoes, ground cumin, ground paprika, ground cinnamon, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to thicken.
  6. Preheat your oven’s broiler.
  7. Combine the cooked masmen pasta with the meat and tomato mixture in the skillet.
  8. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
  9. Place the skillet under the broiler for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the top is lightly browned.
  10. Garnish with fresh parsley or cilantro if desired.
  11. Serve the cheesy masmen hot, straight from the skillet.

This cheesy masmen is a delightful twist on the traditional dish, and the melted cheese adds a creamy and gooey element that many people enjoy. You can customize it by using your favorite cheese or adding extra spices and herbs to suit your taste. Enjoy your cheesy masmen!
