Ribeye steak

Ribeye steak is a popular and flavorful cut of beef known for its marbling, tenderness, and rich taste. Here’s a simple recipe for cooking a delicious ribeye steak:

Ingredients:

  • 1 to 2 ribeye steaks (about 1 to 1.5 inches thick)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil (for searing)
  • 2-3 cloves garlic (optional, for additional flavor)
  • Fresh herbs (e.g., rosemary, thyme) or a sprig of rosemary (optional, for added aroma)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Steak:

  • Remove the ribeye steak(s) from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before cooking. Allowing the meat to come to room temperature helps it cook more evenly.
  • Pat the steaks dry with paper towels. This helps achieve a better sear when cooking.

2. Season the Steak:

  • Season both sides of the ribeye steak(s) generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper. You can add other seasonings like garlic powder, onion powder, or steak seasoning if desired.

3. Preheat the Pan:

  • Place a cast-iron skillet or heavy-duty frying pan on the stovetop over high heat. Allow it to get very hot; you want it to be smoking hot.

4. Sear the Steak:

  • Add a small amount of olive oil or vegetable oil to the hot pan. Swirl it around to coat the bottom evenly.
  • Carefully place the seasoned ribeye steak(s) into the hot pan. Be cautious to avoid splattering.
  • Sear the steak for about 2-3 minutes on one side until it develops a deep, brown crust. You can also add minced garlic and fresh herbs to the pan for extra flavor during this step.
  • Flip the steak and sear the other side for another 2-3 minutes. This will give you a nice medium-rare to medium steak, but adjust the cooking time based on your desired level of doneness.
  • If you want a well-done steak, lower the heat slightly and cook for a few more minutes on each side, but be careful not to overcook, as ribeye is best enjoyed medium-rare to medium.

5. Rest the Steak:

  • Remove the ribeye steak(s) from the pan and place them on a cutting board or plate. Allow them to rest for about 5 minutes. This resting period allows the juices to redistribute within the steak, keeping it juicy and flavorful.

6. Slice and Serve:

  • After resting, slice the ribeye steak(s) against the grain for maximum tenderness.
  • Serve your delicious ribeye steak with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a simple salad.

Enjoy your perfectly cooked ribeye steak! It’s a treat for steak lovers and makes for a satisfying and delicious meal.
