Turtle Candy with Pecans and Caramel

Ingredients

– 1 1/2 cups pecan halves (whole or chopped, as preferred)

– 1 cup soft caramels, unwrapped

– 2 tablespoons heavy cream

– 1 cup semisweet or milk chocolate chips

– Sea salt, for sprinkling (optional)

Directions

1. **Prepare the Pecans

– Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Arrange pecans in small clusters (3–5 per cluster) on the parchment paper. Each cluster will be the base for one candy.

2. **Make the Caramel Layer**

– In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the unwrapped caramels and heavy cream. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.

– Using a spoon, drizzle about a tablespoon of melted caramel over each pecan cluster, covering them well. Allow the caramel to cool and set for about 5-10 minutes.

3. **Add the Chocolate Layer**

– Melt chocolate chips in the microwave in 15-20 second intervals, stirring until smooth. Spoon about a tablespoon of melted chocolate over the caramel layer of each cluster, spreading it to cover the caramel.

– If desired, sprinkle a pinch of sea salt on top of each candy.

4. **Let Set and Enjoy!**

– Let the candies set at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate them for 10-15 minutes until firm.
