Baked Mozzarella Stuffed Meatballs

  1. Preheat and Prepare:
    • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Position the oven rack in the lower 1/3 of the oven.
    • Grease or prepare a baking dish.
  2. Prepare Meatball Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine grated onion, chopped parsley, grated Parmesan cheese, bread crumbs, egg, 2 tablespoons of marinara sauce, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper.
    • Mix the ingredients thoroughly.
    • Add the ground beef into the mixture and combine using your hands.
  3. Shape and Stuff Meatballs:
    • Divide the meat mixture into 16 portions and shape them into meatballs.
    • Create a hole in the center of each meatball and insert a cube of mozzarella cheese. Close and reshape the meatball to cover the cheese completely.
  1. Bake:
    • Spoon 1/3 cup of marinara sauce into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
    • Place the stuffed meatballs in the baking dish.
    • Drizzle a little extra virgin olive oil over the meatballs.
    • Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 15 minutes or until the meatballs are thoroughly cooked.
  2. Serve:
    • Once done, remove the meatballs from the oven.
    • Serve the delicious cheesy stuffed meatballs hot and enjoy!
