Shepherd’s Pie

This comforting **Shepherd’s Pie** recipe features savory ground beef, topped with creamy mashed potatoes and melted cheddar cheese, perfect for a hearty meal the whole family will love!

Ingredients:

– 1 lb ground beef

– 1 onion, diced

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, drained

– 1 can (8 oz) tomato sauce

– 1 teaspoon dried oregano

– 1 teaspoon dried basil

– Salt and pepper, to taste

– 4 cups mashed potatoes (made from 2 lbs potatoes)

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Directions:

1. **Preheat Oven:**

– Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. **Cook the Beef Mixture:**

– In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.

– Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the onion becomes translucent and fragrant, about 5 minutes.

3. **Add Tomatoes and Seasoning:**

– Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer the mixture for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to blend.

4. **Prepare Mashed Potatoes:**

– While the beef mixture simmers, prepare the mashed potatoes. Boil potatoes until tender, then mash them with butter, milk, salt, and pepper until smooth and creamy.

5. **Assemble the Pie:**

– Transfer the beef mixture to a greased 9”x13” baking dish, spreading it evenly.

– Spoon the mashed potatoes over the beef, spreading to cover the entire surface.

6. **Add Cheese and Bake:**

– Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the mashed potatoes.

– Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7. **Cool and Serve:**
